Wellbrook Beetling Mill is the only beetling mill in the UK that can be visited. Just behind the mill, there is a delightful stroll through the wooded glen.
The workers at Wellbrook Beetling Mill used a form of sign language to communicate because the beetling machinery, which pounded linen with wooden hammers, produced loud, deafening noise. This was a necessary adaptation for daily communication in the mill environment.
This mill is just five miles on the road from Cookstown via A505.
