When I decided to walk down to Manor Park after taking a stroll around Moneymore on that icy evening, the image above was a welcome surprise as I crossed the road bridge. In particular, the newly installed pathway lamps and the white dusting of snow seemed to enhance the beauty of Manor Park.

The image above captures a close-up view of the hare, which emerged momentarily after I inadvertently frightened the buzzard away while attempting to capture a close-up of it perched on a long tree. Apparently, the wildlife animals on the ground waited in hiding while the buzzards were hovering around above. Additional Photos (Misc)

Brown Hare, August 2025
I have just managed to capture a full-body image of a brown hare, especially without the grass covering its feet. Its appearance is different from the Irish hare; I wasn’t even aware of the difference in species of hares in the UK/Ireland! See my other post on Irish hare; they seemed to have shorter ears…

Only a few years ago, when there was a Facebook post warning about the giant hogweeds strewn along the riverside, did I learn about a little-known gem at Cookstown’s southern tip.
