Coagh Riverside Park & Playground, October 2025
Autumn is the time of the year when colourful leaves and weather show up, especially in the mornings and evenings. Coagh Riverside Park is a minimal riverside woodland; it takes just 5 minutes or so to walk around, but it is a lovely wood beside the large Ballinderry River, which heads out into Lough Neagh…

Wet Autumn Morning Walk in the Countryside, October 2025
The autumn morning walk took place a day after a particularly heavy downpour on Sunday. The autumn season is a great time to go out, especially with its colourful weather and landscape.

Autumn Stroll at the Springhill, October 2025
Springhill, located on the edge of Moneymore, offers a delightfully colourful autumn walk. One of my favourite ‘sweet & short’ casual walks. There are plenty of intriguing footpaths to explore, as well as some fascinating trees and plants to view.

Wellbrook Beetling Mill, September 2025
Wellbrook Beetling Mill is the only beetling mill in the UK that can be visited. Just behind the mill, there is a delightful stroll through the wooded glen. The workers at Wellbrook Beetling Mill used a form of sign language to communicate because the beetling machinery, which pounded linen with wooden hammers, produced loud, deafening…

Brown Hare, August 2025
I have just managed to capture a full-body image of a brown hare, especially without the grass covering its feet. Its appearance is different from the Irish hare; I wasn’t even aware of the difference in species of hares in the UK/Ireland! See my other post on Irish hare; they seemed to have shorter ears…

Birds of Ballyronan, April 2025
On the shore of the Lough Neagh, at the Ballyronan Marina. The presence of a diverse bird population is evident there, thanks to the abundant Lough Neagh flies (midge), which are harmless but you can see from their presence in the photos. Pictures were taken on the 8th of April, due to better (and warmer)…

Cabin Wood, Cookstown, July 2025
Only a few years ago, when there was a Facebook post warning about the giant hogweeds strewn along the riverside, did I learn about a little-known gem at Cookstown’s southern tip. The only other forest/wood is Drum Manor Park, but it is around a 3.5-mile drive from town and is, by far, much larger. Cabin…

Drumcairne Forest, Stewartstown, July 2025
A little-known forest park a couple of miles eastward from Stewartstown, County Tyrone. Great for some long walks.

Irish Hare, April 2025
The image above captures a close-up view of the hare, which emerged momentarily after I inadvertently frightened the buzzard away while attempting to capture a close-up of it perched on a long tree. Apparently, the wildlife animals on the ground waited in hiding while the buzzards were hovering around above. Additional Photos (Misc)

Frosty Winter Sunrise, February 2025
While we are enjoying unusually dry and sunny weather during the 2nd half of March and now into April, it was only a couple of months ago that we had a beautiful frosty sunrise.
