    Irish Hare, April 2025

    12 June 202511 August 2025

The image above captures a close-up view of the hare, which emerged momentarily after I inadvertently frightened the buzzard away while attempting to capture a close-up of it perched on a long tree. Apparently, the wildlife animals on the ground waited in hiding while the buzzards were hovering around above. Additional Photos (Misc)

Drum Manor Forest Park, June 2019

    19 April 202519 April 2025

I took a stroll around the Drum Manor Forest Park. It is less than 4 miles from Cookstown, County Tyrone, on the A505 road to Omagh. There are many different walking and hiking routes, a walled garden, and a children’s play park.

While we are enjoying unusually dry and sunny weather during the 2nd half of March and now into April, it was only a couple of months ago that we had a beautiful frosty sunrise.

    Buzzard, July 2024

    1 March 202529 March 2025

Buzzards are something I frequently see from my home. A pheasant was killed by one of them in front of my house a few years ago while we were away for the whole day. Having discussed this with a neighbour, it never occurred to me that the buzzard could kill pheasants. The buzzards usually keep…

    Ulster Transport Museum, June 2019

    14 February 202527 February 2025

As a frequent visitor to the excellent Ulster Folk Museum, which is situated directly across the bridge on the Belfast-Bangor road, I was unsure of what to anticipate from my visit to the Ulster Transport Museum. One thing that struck me about it is electric trams. They started out in the 1890s as horse-drawn carriages,…

    Battery Harbour, January 2025

    23 January 20252 February 2025

Battery Harbour is the most “central” harbour on Lough Neagh, with roughly equal distances to all four corners of the lake; for this reason, one of the two Lough Neagh Rescue stations is located here. Kinnego is the other rescue station, southeast of Lough Neagh. The best view of Lough Neagh is probably from Battery…

    22 January 202530 January 2025

When I decided to walk down to Manor Park after taking a stroll around Moneymore on that icy evening, the image above was a welcome surprise as I crossed the road bridge. In particular, the newly installed pathway lamps and the white dusting of snow seemed to enhance the beauty of Manor Park.
